pixelfed.social has an itemized list of pronouns you're allowed to use on your pixelfed profile. you can't just type into a plain text box, there's a list that you can choose from. you can choose up to 4. they're almost all made up words that don't exist.
there are many things wrong with this. at least 3.
@tk have you tried Bang? it's zero-cal and the flavors are better than any other i've ever tried
@HighlandArrow this is not only easily falsifiable, it's false. i get that the anti-cryptocurrency zealots are, well, both anti-cryptocurrency and zealots, but why with the very plainly objectively false claims of fact?
i really like that several of the best things i liked on twitter and reddit are now mirrored by bots into fedi, specifically
@foone and @it_meirl_bot
@tk runs a pretty good instance over there! i especially like the amber phosphor color scheme. <3
@treztrez i think it's insane that an instance admin can unilaterally decide for thousands of instance users that they can't follow/read/see certain content. if you don't like a user you should mute/block them from your own account, you should not silently prevent users on your instance from ever being able to read them. (it also has the side effect of meaning i can't follow anyone on a hugely popular instance)
@treztrez he doesn't like that i think that defederation is not a good tool for moderation. i followed like 4-5 people on his instance (of 17k users) and he flipped out and decided i was a stalker or something. (note that when i was on birdsite i followed over 10k users)
ugh, i keep my apps in ~/Applications so as to keep the systemwide /Applications not needed to be backed up. Then I just back up $HOME/. The problem is if I exclude $HOME from spotlight indexing, it won't let me command-space launch apps in ~/Applications. I'd happily make an /Applications.mine or something but you can't make directories in the root of osx anymore because the root is readonly and all user data is on an overlay fs.
@dlb funny but false premise: all high value content via legal channels still comes with more DRM than ever, same as in 1999.
hooking up displays to a mac is sort of a pain in the ass. despite adopting usbc for laptops, pcs still don't use usbc for high res desktop displays. i have 3x 4k hooked up to a pc with displayport, hooking them up to my 16" m1max rmbp would use up all of the i/o i think? maybe i can do two with displayport to c adapters then maybe the hdmi will do 4k@60hz and i can just switch the third monitor's input?
@cnx never tried, i only play a very small number of fpses. that's a meme tho right?
@treztrez instance admins can still declare themselves king of everyone who trusts them not to censor their media. you have to pick a good instance, or run your own.
@vidister you must really love that model to put up with a (factory) non-type-c laptop
