50th anniversary of the Roland Corporation. roland.com/us/roland-50th-anni

Oh, my goodness, we had an EP10 at school, I was allowed to take it home once for the holidays.

@Hyolobrika@mstdn.io that's only true in the kind of weirdo communities that use fringe tools. if you go on facebook groups for your local city you can meet tons of people who aren't far and all use their real name

@claus ok cool we can agree to disagree i'll be over here reading about my computer sequenced genome and writing computer software on my computer which was designed by computer and manufactured by machines with computers

@yojimbo the solution to "where do you store your secrets" has been defined for a long while now. on the macos there's keychain, on linux there's gnome-keyring, KDE probably has some equivalent, and I'm sure Windows has something, too.

I'd be willing to bet there's even some library that abstracts them all for crossplatform Electron apps. If not, that's a good Innovation Token to spend.

@Hyolobrika@mstdn.io lots and none respectively. all of the great people in my life came as a direct result of using the internet and software.

facebook outrage mobs lynch a few dozen people because people claim the site isn't sufficiently censored. meanwhile, computer-aided disease research prevents millions of deaths. woke twitterati declare computers the cause of the world's downfall!

it's trendy to hate computers, hate software, hate the internet, and think they're making our world worse.

this is a stupid, stupid, naive, fad-chasing take. our world is better than it has ever been, and computers are largely responsible.

@millenomi i love computers, this is a trendy and bad take, computers give us everything good in our lives

the same people who are telling me that software-based voting systems are entirely untrustworthy are in the group saying that the last election's results (conducted via software voting) are accurate and trustworthy and free of fraud.

@tulpa @alexandra generally you don't do things while you're sleeping, and people don't do things to you. obvious?

2 mins using pixelfed and i'm finding ridiculous basic broken stuff :/

github.com/pixelfed/pixelfed/i

@tulpa @alexandra i would be terrified if i lost continuity of experience like that. how do you know it was you?

my list of things wrong:

1) this is a useless feature that should have been deprioritized and the time used elsewhere

2) it should be a freeform text field, it's way more time/effort to make a list

3) now someone has to update the list because there isn't an "other..." option, increasing the time sunk into this useless feature

4) the 99% use case is not at the top of the list

5) nobody, and i mean nobody, knows that you need to command-click to select multiple items in a multiselect list
