i only learned recently the sheer number of instances that have blocked this, my single user instance, and 90% of them based on rumor/speculation/because other instances said it was bad.
federated systems are unreliable.

@paoloredaelli additionally, if i were a terrible or repugnant person as some of those blocks claim, i am prevented from following/reading any of the virtuous and good users and content on those instances from my homeserver.

Having that transparency might make some admins a tad more reluctant to use the ban-hammer, IDK.
