The latest macOS suffers crippling lag opening apps if it's not connected to the internet but connected to a local network. Even while connected to the internet, if the connection is slow, it lags terribly. However, it's blazingly fast when network interfaces are completely disconnected with no expectation of phoning home :flan_facepalm::flan_despair:

@stebby
This seems to confirm the suspects that MacOs constantly phones home. Can we say it is a #spyware OS?

@eriol Exactly this. Personally it's the definitive reason why I will avoid Apple and suggest people to avoid Apple. (btw, Jeffrey Paul is in the #fedevierse at @sneak 😀 ) @stebby

@paoloredaelli I follow @sneak but I was not sure he want to be added to random discussion 😄

I completely agree with you about Apple and I always try to push free as in speech systems.
However I can understand if a specific use case need a closed system right now, but I see all the free software projects and movements as a lever to remove the need of closed systems/solutions.

I hope a world without closed systems will exists in the future.

@eriol @stebby @paoloredaelli just adjust your firewall to block traffic you don't like. i suggest Little Snitch on macOS.
