ugh everyone who has followed me on AP lately is some duckspeaking cryptorightwinger (not cryptocurrency, from kryptos, "hidden") that is either from gab or gab adjacent. i wonder if there is a single decent gab user

@sneak answer: no, the only cool person I know of who was on Gab (@dave@gleasonator.com) left

@mewmew maybe the instance doesn't support AP anymore. i find a lot of people have been abandoning running an instance, many instances that were up during the mastodon boom are still registered domain names but are no longer AP instances

@sneak nah, it does, I just messed up the syntax.

many instances die but many new ones are born. it's a reminder of the true ephemeralality of everything.

@mewmew as a sometimes storage administrator i don't like ephemerality of data. i'm working on a service that is going to reconstruct the entire AP firehose so i can actually get a working hashtag search once and for all.

@sneak I'm not a huge fan either, but it is what it is.
