The police are only acting as boldly as they are because the protests are nonviolent and unarmed. The vast majority of protestors are not attacking police, not throwing molotovs, not shooting back. The police are behaving to scare and intimidate, because they know their targets are nonviolent.
Things would be *totally* different if the police were actually under attack. They are not.
@EMPEROR i've muted you, so don't bother replying, but the number of dead cops as a result of protestors the last week is single digits (i think it's just 1, tbh). that's nonviolent on the scale i am speaking of. (afaik cops have killed at least 3 people so far during this?)

@sneak In New Orleans after Katrina plenty of cops ditched their uniforms and fled.

the protests were infiltrated and co-opted by black bloc, antifa and other far socialist groups
they deliberately used violence to destabilize society
just as some Bernie organizers said a few months earlier
this is classic socialist strategy
after the police saw this, they were given the order to become more brutal to scare the protesters
