so my switches just died - all of them - while trying this out :D
@selea permanently died? did strobing the speed wedge them, or actually kill the hardware?

I powercycled them - No difference.
I took away the power for 5 minutes and now they work again 
@selea sounds like a new security issue to test switches for!
