the opt out doesn't help the 99.9% of users that use defaults, and encrypting the data means *apple* still gets the telemetry and the CIA has to go ask them for it instead of getting it off the wire.

they also used some super misleading language in their update, trying to confuse people into thinking it's encrypted today by conflating gatekeeper (ocsp) with app notarization.
