how much of an idiot do you have to be to think that vaccine mandates are authoritarian? it's literally a revocation of one side of mutual consent, the epitome of voluntary interactions.

@black6 there are a lot of "muh freedom" types who are generally antivax antimask etc who think that vaccine mandates are left-authoritarianism.

they're not really mandates, though. it's just a condition of continued association: "you must have done x for me (not you) to continue employing you". it's not mandatory at all, and "mandate" is a misnomer. people are free to remain unvaccinated, at home, away from others.

@sneak for "at will" employees, sure. gets more complicated with employment contracts.

@black6 all employment should default to at will. everything in life should be at will. forcing people to do things they don’t want to do is barbaric

@sneak @black6 but corps love at-will. Employer holds all the cards. They coerce, manipulate, deceive, obfuscate to get you to sign an at-will contract (which is really only at-will for them). Hope your at-will relationships with corps are more balanced than mine.

@hobson @black6 it's at will for both parties. you can walk out at any time.

@sneak @black6 indeed. but as you know lawyers can write contracts that make walking away very detrimental to your career. Corporations aren't human. And they aren't humane.
