this was tweeted september 7th. it's still accurate, more than 90 days later, during yet another huge wave. tests are not widely available, and where they are, they cost 3-5x this amount.

america is dumb

@sneak A couple of months ago, we all got a letter from the Dutch ministry of health thingies, with instructions on how to get two free tests sent to us, as well. They do get some things right, at least.

Keep in mind that these are not the more accurate pcr tests, but it certainly is better than nothing.

@doenietzomoeilijk lol the PCR tests here cost hundreds of dollars and you can't get an appointment for over a week. the usa is worse than soviet russia right now.

@sneak well, thank fuck capitalism works as intended, then. 😉

@doenietzomoeilijk it's funny you say that; the bulk tests that I have that cost only marginally more than the dutch ones came from china and are illegal to import under US law. people who think the USA has capitalism or a free market are broadcasting their own ignorance of the situation.

@sneak yeah, those tests in the Netherlands are from China, as well.

Of course when I say "capitalism works," I mean it works for some. As it usually does.

If we had a free market in the U.S.A., NovaVax (or the hundreds of other vaccines/etc. would be available, and we wouldn't have to wait on the FDA to 'approve' of it.

There are many other medical breakthroughs which aren't available in the u.s. due to over-regulation. If I want to make use of the ultrasound method of regrowing teeth, I should have the right to take that risk.
