it really bothers me that masto deletes/hides information on my own server based on actions of remote parties (block). it should not delete or hide records from my own machine without my consent.

it is for your own good, it prevents you from seeing harmful content.
@sneak yeah, I also dislike this feature. Friendica does not act like this. I can keep deleted posts if I consider this as my choice. nothing from outside should decide about data on my server.
@sneak I think that people should think what they post. data that got to the Internet cannot be "deleted" afterwards. but any owner of a server should be able to delete the information he does not like from his own machine. this looks logical and sane.

@surfingalot it emulates centralized social media and hides all content from a user that has blocked you

@sneak so it sends a delete command, or it applys a hide flag, or something else?

@surfingalot i think it sends an explicit "you've been blocked" message but i'm not sure
