we are not talking about iCloud Photos. iCloud Photos are already scanned in iCloud by Apple for illegal content as they are not end to end encrypted.

we're talking about LOCAL, ON-DEVICE scanning for people who DO NOT USE ICLOUD.

apple's denial has nothing to do with the topic under discussion.

We're talking about literally invasive #Malware from the manufacturer that doesn't even have any #legal basis nor mandate to exist - unlike the #Govware in "P.R." #China's #iCloud and #Apple deivces sold in the #PRC...

@kkarhan @lewin@digitalcourage.social @kubikpixel @schurt3r you don't know that it doesn't have any mandate to exist. it's likely that clientside scanning is a prerequisite demanded by the USG before apple ships end to end encrypted cloud software that they can't spy on at will.

#ITAR et. al. don't reduce restrictions if one includes #Govware #backdoors either...
