@overflow @tuxcrafting they posted some racist nonsense today which makes me wonder about your recommendation

@pasture it's also irrelevant as far as "types of racism that warrant paying attention to or doing anything about". when there are centuries of oppression from a position of power, then we can talk about whether or not anyone gives a shit about your reverse racism.

turns out having 18 xeon cpu cores for transcoding is faster than even using the gpu-accelerated version

doing some video training materials, and i feel like winnebago ad man

The US attorney general does not believe there is a problem with systemic racism in law enforcement in the US.

what the actual fuck

Did you know that the NYPD has a $6 *billion* (yes, with a b(!)) dollars per year annual budget?

Six thousand million dollars every year. $16.4 million dollars every single day for policing in NYC.

They should have been defunded substantially by now even if they were nice to people

i think it might be racist behavior of the media to uncritically report as true the things the police claim are true or publish in sworn statements, knowing now what we know about the pattern of police lying.

i wish rms weren't a despicable turd, otherwise he would probably be interesting to talk to: stallman.org/articles/why-we-n

@IronMan@mstdn.social @GlennGriffin8@mstdn.social there's a mute button if you don't like reading what i toot on my own server, homeslice. please do be well.

@IronMan@mstdn.social i don't think voting the president out will make much difference. i've already offered even odds to anyone that the child concentration camps continue under the terrible fuckhead that is joe biden.

there are no viable options for decent people to vote for in that country

@GlennGriffin8@mstdn.social @IronMan@mstdn.social if we're going to get all linguistically freaky with the textual metaphors then "the pigs have been spattering their caustic and toxic bacon grease all over real, actual human beings"

reputable places that care about accuracy have already switched to such terms. being a chemist, you wouldn't authoritatively call an unidentified compound something it isn't known to be.

my point is that all cops are bastards and that accuracy matters

@GlennGriffin8@mstdn.social @IronMan@mstdn.social i agree with you in theory. words mean things, though, and if you say x, but mean y, and someone says "no, not x" when it was actually y, you are wrong and they are right.

tear gas is CS gas. the park police apparently used pepper spray (OC) shells and smoke, from what i heard.

use the right words. if the people accusing them of using tear gas had done their fucking homework, they wouldn't have been able to issue a straight denial like that.

i think my domain is penalized on HN
