@x they're not bad, they're great, they just have a few specific flaws that need to be worked around. if they were bad we wouldn't be writing about them at all. there are no blog posts whining about the intel ME in a dell xps

@r000t @WyrdWanderingWitch@mastodon.online @Gargron @Gargron where can i donate to the kickstarter for kicking r000t in the dick

how do i get a Tavolga Terminal? there are none on ebay

@robby @arh@hostux.social @josias@theres.life yes, they could, just as humans could refuse to continue to burn fossil fuels, just as every lottery ticket i buy for the remainder of my life could be a winner, just as apple could go out of business next month

@arh@hostux.social @josias@theres.life good luck, selling pure ideology without any benefit to end users has never worked in practice

@robby @arh@hostux.social congrats, nobody else has that problem

@newt @Ted does this pay royalties to chilledcow or what

@arh@hostux.social @josias@theres.life people *want* to use stuff that has DRM in it, because the law props up copyright, and copyright allows exclusivity. as long as the content and media that people desire is released with DRM, then people will desire the DRM-containing systems, because they dgaf about your ideology, they just want to watch the movie or show they want to watch.

@josias@theres.life @arh@hostux.social no, those corporations are lost causes, they will not respond to ideology, only market forces. you need to create new market forces, and you don't do that by getting those corporations involved. DRM makes them more money.

@josias@theres.life @arh@hostux.social i didn't say it was hopeless, i told you specifically and exactly how to address it. it just takes cash and dedicated people and hard work, same as most large things in the world.

@josias@theres.life @arh@hostux.social pay world class salaries to people to do the things that need doing. raise money (lots of money) and hire professionals. volunteer efforts are trash, generally.

@arh@hostux.social @josias@theres.life yeah, netflix and chrome (widevine) marketing isn't a volunteer effort. the anti-drm camp is a bug on a windshield here.

After 25 years of construction, we now have 3 more subway stations in Berlin, connecting the Brandenburg gate to Alexanderplatz. And 2 of these stations are even open (1 will have to wait until next year). Price: half a billion
