I'd forgotten how totally nuts this BBC feature on live coding was https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JJ5h1albAzY
i'm beginning to think that the only way to run a real community with anything resembling low-latency interaction is to bite the bullet and get an Apple developer account so that a non-bigtech server can send notifications to the computers people actually use these days.
sort of a bummer that you can't run a social network without apple's permission.
johnny mnemonic just pointed out that people need to remember that facebook didn't invent the metaverse:

@augustus didn't try, succeeded.
@vance this client doesn't support DMs? hit me on signal.
@vance the light from light therapy lamps is mostly irrelevant and useless. you need sun-level bright which you can't buy a single product for, you need to custom build. or just take antidepressants that work.
@black6 hospitals have to be built to fire code (for public safety). that's a law. hospitals can't overcrowd with people (for public safety). that's a law. hospitals can't sell heroin to all comers without a license (for public safety). that's a law.
i don't think your position is consistent with what people mean when they say "a hospital" in 2021 in the united states, which implies a lot of existing laws and regulations about a building open to the public.
@black6 that would be fine if hospitals weren't heavily regulated and anyone could start one and address the need. you can't just open a new hospital here that doesn't suck, it's illegal, so making sure that the existing hospitals are not fucking terrible also falls to the responsibility of the people who banned new/additional ones.
