it's the birthday of my friend who killed themselves a few years back. how long should you leave dead friends in your contact list?

@newt oh heh yeah everything in america needs to have a euphemism. you can't say bad words!

imagine how cool humanity is going to be once our energy levels are defined by, you know, actual energy, and not whether there was a loud sound at 4am

i thought my DANE record was over my public key, but my cert expired, I renewed it (same public key), and it still failed, I regenerated the DANE record and it started working again.

what in the cinnamon toast fuck is this

@mastodon the use of the term oriental to refer to people, the generalizations about what kind of men women like based solely on their race

@Xeraser it's not human trafficking if it's consensual.

there's at least a disclosure now on the "create new apple id" screen that when you create an account it's going to enable icloud backup which backs up everything on your device. it doesn't mention that it's without e2e encryption and that apple and the fbi can see it all, but it does at least mention that your data's going to leave.

it's sort of amazing that apple of the 2020s is now the microsoft of the 2000s.

the OOBE on an iphone12mini with a new apple id is absolutely atrocious. apple's really just not good at network services, for the most part. account creation should not be this difficult.

apple's "stay on 14.x point release or upgrade to new major version" upgrade options being exposed in UI are their tacit admission that the new os is boring and slow

Coinbase is now working with ICE.

Good thing you can't talk politics at work there!

how many times is linux going to change where the dns server IPs go?

for some reason my golang apps dns is still broken in containers, but everything else works fine. what the fuck golang

ugh tried updating my system by holding back the docker.io package and updating everything else, somehow broke dns inside my containers, which then upgrading docker.io and restarting the daemon (which kills ALL my dozens of containers and restarts them) didn't fix it.

@cnx i'm asking for a saas like 500px or flickr or something that i can put a little js embed on my webpage that will show the photos in the appropriate resolution/size and serve them from the third party
