super lame that the protonmail app on android won't do any sort of interval-based mail checking if you don't have play services installed. it literally depends 100% on proprietary push notifications via google (of all people) to know about new email, it has no other mechanism whatsoever.

just have it auto-refresh once an hour or something, jeez

@aaron trade is a human desire and you can't blame "trade" for things humans decide to do. trade improves human lives vastly and it's not a bad thing and it doesn't push anyone to lie, cheat, or steal - this is a fallacy pushed by anticapitalists. you should be critical of any *human* claiming anything, because companies cannot speak or make claims - only human beings can.

@aaron society pushes humans to lie, cheat, and steal. many companies do not lie, probably *most* companies. please take the blanket anti-company line elsewhere and criticize *these specific half-dozen* companies directly instead of criticizing the millions of companies in the world as one.

successfully negotiated my way out of throttle gaol on my most used web community

@aaron apple goes to very significant lengths to not post factually untrue things on their website.

this is obviously one of their values that they take more seriously than most. "every company lies" is not a useful, informative, or actionable statement.

As of 2022-04-30, this webpage will likely contain a lie:

support.apple.com/en-us/HT2024

Published 2021-04-30:

"In addition, over the the next year we will introduce several changes to our security checks:

A new encrypted protocol for Developer ID certificate revocation checks"

It's 2022-02-11 and so far this encrypted OCSP promise has not been kept.

oh, joy, just found out signal doesn't support moving your existing keys/chats from ios to android or vice versa - you can migrate android-to-android, or ios-to-ios, but you can't cross the streams. for fucke's sake

syncthing on my mobile is the best thing since sliced bread though

other than this absolutely monstrous camera bump (more like a giant camera rail, or camera booth) that doubles the thickness of the phone for the entire width where the camera is, the pixel 6 pro hardware is pretty good so far. perhaps even great, though not insanely so.

i sort of adore how graphene's default homescreen does not have a single color pixel on it, and how it doesn't ship with *any* wallpapers at all.
