not one of the answers to "why is putin doing this?" that i have heard really make any sense. there is something else going on here. he's not stupid, nor a madman.

russia is one of the largest and best countries in the world, and full of some of the best, smartest, and brightest humans. if after hundreds of years these sorts of tragedies still play out, what more damning condemnation of state power and authority could there possibly be?

weapons are needed; if you live within a thousand kilometers of other people they are never unnecessary. when politicians tell you otherwise, they are lying to you for their benefit and your detriment.
