@r000t there is some masto doc about the config for webfinger when LOCAL_DOMAIN != WEB_DOMAIN but i can’t find it rn. too bad it doesn’t do SRV records like matrix does. see also github.com/sneak/feta for my implementation of nodeinfo parsing

instance suspension recommendation, transmisia, targeted harassment, incitement of violence

I am working on a project to name and shame developers of open source software who embed spyware in their releases. Of course we can fork, but I think it's wasteful, and if we can pressure people to stop violating the consent of their users, it will be more efficient. Who wants to help? Please contact me at sneak@sneak.berlin

@kick @allison @mewmew @tedu @toast am i? i use it every day but don’t think of myself as prominent.

reminder: the only way you can have “rights to” or a “license for” information is with state violence. remove the violence and you either simply have or do not have information.

@mewmew that is encouraging, thank you. do you know other nice people to follow?

@koyu@koyu.space @aidalgol @izalia people choose for others to have their information when they publish that information. the “but i didn’t want you to have it *that way*” is not a thing. once information is published, it is no longer yours, if indeed it ever was, as we cannot own information.

@aidalgol @lumi@niu.moe @koyu@koyu.space @izalia respect flows both ways. if i have information that was provided voluntarily to me, people also have to respect my own freedom to think about or process that information in any way i see fit. we don’t own information.

@luna@hellsite.site i think perhaps creative people tend to get attacked more for status quo violations. perhaps more women are speaking up with innovative/different ideas.

@lumi@niu.moe @koyu@koyu.space @izalia i think that saying “well we should respect the original intent or we are mean/rude” is a subtle and disingenuous method of attempting to control others that has no basis in a system of reasoning. publishing is a powerful tool. when we use it, we use the full spectrum of it. when we put information into others’ heads or computers we are no longer in a position to dictate what they think or derive or ponder or calculate as a result on their own.

@ejnunya@fosstodon.org in that vein though i would love follow suggestions here. discovery is still terrible in AP which is one of the reasons i wrote a spider, so that i can enumerate as many public users as possible and for full text search to find more ppl to follow

@luna@hellsite.site is that a fem thing? it is my experience too, for most issues i report.

@ejnunya@fosstodon.org i am not interested in blocking instances. i may block specific people and their alts as necessary, but until individual ids are more portable on activitypub i will not discriminate against adjacent users on a server.

common theme seems to be people implying that i am doing something wrong by posting my own thoughts on my own server. “get out of here”, indeed
