@arm email is not end to end encrypted so encryption laws at an email provider are mostly irrelevant. the provider has to handle plainttext because that's how email works.

i am breaking rfc2487 by requiring STARTTLS for all mail on a public mailserver.

fastmail puts your sending end-user client IP in the outbound email header if you send email via their submission port (smtp). this is a data leak. :(

when you add an IMAP account to Mail.app on macOS, it connects to some Apple configuration service (presumably leaking your imap server hostnames and/or domains to Apple) before connecting to your server.

looks like the m1 ipad pro isn't actually out yet

signal's attachment image size limit is now too small for the ~10mb png screenshots from an iphone 12 pro max. you can't take a screenshot and send it via signal: it gives an error.
